Start your path with Harvard Pilgrim.
As Connecticut’s only not-for-profit health insurer, we’re a different kind of health plan—one that’s driven by people, not profit. Our goal is not just to provide access to quality health care, but to create the best health experience possible for our state’s businesses and communities. In fact, our local team is proud to be recognized by the Hartford Business Journal as one of Connecticut’s Best Places to Work. It underlines our promise to put members first and shows that true HaPiness starts from within.
Here's how we put members first.
Access to quality care—when and where you need it.
We’re a local partner with the strength of a national network. Our seamless, New England HMO network has outstanding providers that members know and trust, while our relationship with United Healthcare gives our plans a national reach. And, of course, all of our Connecticut health insurance plans offer access to care through digital and telehealth options. In fact, we’re the first to offer virtual primary care (PCP) group plans in Connecticut, providing affordable alternatives to care. Additionally, our new, virtually-based health plans—SimplyVirtualSM HMO and Virtual ChoiceSM HMO—have innovative, 24/7 access to a primary care provider.
We’re with you every step of the way.
Need help finding a local primary care physician? Want to clarify your benefits? You’ll get quick, reliable answers from our New England-based Member Services team. Care Coordinators are also available for one-on-one support for health challenges, like chronic conditions or serious illness. And because you’re busy enough, we make switching to us easy with SmartStart, our personalized decision support tool. When you add all the support available through our digital services, it’s no wonder that data compiled from 2020 Harvard Pilgrim Voice of the Customer surveys said that we have a 95% member satisfaction rate.
Supporting members means supporting their communities.
Our commitment to the communities of Connecticut spans all ages, races, identities and income levels. In addition to enabling access to quality care for all, we’re proud of our initiatives in community service and food accessibility. We’ve also helped to expand vaccine education and awareness in communities of color and contributed $1.2 million to more than 37 nonprofit organizations located in communities disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.
Better benefits for body and mind.
From exercise and nutrition to mindfulness, our Living Well Everyday program helps members boost their well-being with virtual classes and savings to help. This benefit not only supports the overall health of your workforce, but also puts rewards back in your employees’ pockets. Additionally, we offer fitness reimbursement for qualified memberships, and digital behavioral health tools to manage emotional wellness from home with a licensed mental health professional.
