Important update about receiving care in Connecticut in 2024
Are you a Connecticut resident or do you receive care from a health care provider in Connecticut? We’d like you to be aware of an important change that may affect the plan you choose during BILH’s Open Enrollment period (which runs through November 17, 2023).
Starting January 1, 2024, our HMO enrollment area will include fewer Connecticut zip codes. In addition, most Connecticut-based doctors, specialists and hospitals will no longer be available in the HMO networks; they will be considered out-of-network providers.
What this means for you
If you enroll in an HMO plan through BILH and you seek care in Connecticut from providers who are not part of the network (as of January 1, 2024), your services will not be covered, except in a medical emergency.
Connecticut residents
Before enrolling in a BILH medical plan during this year’s Open Enrollment period (through November 17, 2023), please review this list of eligible zip codes:
- If your zip code appears on this list, you are eligible to enroll in any of the BILH medical plans (including the HMO plans).
- If your zip code is not on this list, you must enroll in the Tiered POS plan. This flexible plan allows you to receive care from our national network of providers, and also includes out-of-network coverage.
Others who receive care in Connecticut
If you live in Harvard Pilgrim’s enrollment area (Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire) and are enrolled in an HMO plan starting January 1, 2024, services provided by most Connecticut-based providers will not be covered, except in a medical emergency.
To see which providers are in-network for 2024, please refer to your plan’s provider directory:
