Important information regarding Steward Health Care

The health and well-being of our members is our top priority. We understand the concern that the closure of the Steward Health Care hospitals may be causing and have taken steps to help guide members impacted by these closures.

How has Harvard Pilgrim helped?

  • Addressed referral and authorization requirements for medically necessary covered services for impacted members as appropriate.
  • Ensured continuity of care, allowing members to maintain access to the high-quality care they deserve. For example, for Steward providers that have moved to a new facility, we’re working to confirm their networked status under the new facility or helping members identify an alternative in-network provider in the same or similar specialty.
  • When necessary, we can also assist members in accessing care from out-of-network providers at their in-network benefit level, including out-of-network urgent care centers; this may also include adjustments to prior paid claims as appropriate.

How can I receive assistance and support?

As your health plan, we’re happy to support members in navigating their care and identifying new facilities that may be of assistance; please reach out to Member Services by calling the number on the back of your member ID card.
